Horizon TechVentures

Horizon TechVentures (HTV) is a private equity fund investing in South Africa's technology sector. The fund was launched in 2001 by IDC and its main investors are IFC, CDC and Norfund. SECO has invested ZAR 15.0 million in the fund.

HTV invests in both early-stage and later-stage private companies in South Africa seeking expansion or buyout capital. HTV seeks to purchase significant minority stakes (10-49%) in small and medium sized companies in which the executive management also holds significant ownership in the following industries: IT, e-commerce, telecom, electronics, life science and specialist engineering products. HTV invests typically ZAR 1.0 - 20.0 million in the form of equity and equity-related instruments.

HTV is managed by Horizon Equity Partners (HEP) a Johannesburg, South Africa-based private equity firm founded in 1992, which manages multiple private equity funds.
