SEAF Transbalkan Fund
The SEAF Trans Balkan Fund (TBF) is an umbrella fund investing in three country funds in the Trans-Balkan region. TBF was launched in 2000 with the Black Sea Trade Corporation, Finnfund, IFC, Norfund and SEAF AID as its investors. SECO committed USD 3.0 million to the fund.TBF invests in three country funds in the Trans-Balkan region, namely Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania. These are generalist private equity funds investing USD 100,000 – 500,000 in small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The Fund’s investment policy is to target companies which are locally owned, have strong management teams open to SEAF’s intensive technical support, and demonstrate strong growth prospects as well as export potential. SEAF obtains significant minority positions of 20%-49% stakes in investee companies through a variety of equity, quasi-equity and debt instruments.
TBF is managed by Small Enterprise Assistance Funds (SEAF), a global investment firm specializing in SME investment. Based in Washington D.C., SEAF invests in multiple countries through an international network of offices in Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, and Asia.
