Vietnam Equity Fund
The Vietnam Equity Fund (VEF) is a generalist private equity fund investing in Vietnam. VEF was established in 2005 and its main investors are DEG, Finnfund, Finansa Fund Management, Norfund and Proparco. SIFEM has committed EUR 2.0 million to the fund on behalf of SECO.VEF's investment focus is on Vietnamese state-owned enterprises (SOEs) that have equitized or are in the process of equitization. The fund seeks to add value through advising investee companies in areas such as improving financial structuring, preparing for a listing or corporate governance. By investing in equitizing or equitized SOEs it contributes to the improved management of these enterprises as well as to the transformation of the Vietnamese economy into a market-oriented economy.
VEF is managed by Finansa, a Bangkok-based financial services group with a specialist capability in private equity in Thailand and Vietnam. Apart from fund management, Finansa also has subsidiaries active in investment banking, securities brokerage, retirement funds and wealth management and lending.
