ASEAN China Private Equity Fund
The ASEAN China Investment Fund is a generalist private equity fund established in 2004 to invest in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) within the ASEAN region and the People’s Republic of China. The Swiss Government, the Asian Development Bank and United Overseas Bank of Singapore are the initial sponsors and investors of this fund. SECO has invested USD 15.9 million in the fund.The fund focuses on SMEs in the ASEAN/China region that have attractive growth prospects and are engaged in intra-regional and inter-regional trade or investment activities. The fund targets high growth companies from various sectors, such as automotive parts, electronics, distribution, transport, light manufacturing and information technology. The fund's approach is generalist and opportunistic, allowing investments in pre-IPO companies which are expected to list within 24 months. Investees are more mature companies which transformed themselves from a family-owned business to a company with a professional management structure. The deal size ranges in USD 4.0 - 7.0 million.
The fund is managed by UOB Venture Management Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UOB Group. Headquartered in Singapore, the UOB Group is one of Asia’s premier financial institutions with additional offices in Europe and the US.
