Mekong Enterprise Fund
The Mekong Enterprise Fund, Ltd. (MEF) is a generalist private equity fund focusing on growth-equity investments in the first generation of private companies in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The fund was launched in 2002 with BIO, Finnfund, NDF and ADB as its investors. SECO invested USD 3.0 million in MEF.MEF primarily targets export-oriented companies in the manufacturing sector. MEF is a "hands-on" investor, selecting companies where it can bring significant added value, particularly in improving management systems. The fund invests in private companies that have never been state-owned.
MEF is managed by Mekong Capital, which was founded in 2001 and manages various investment funds in the region. The company has a vast team of investment professionals, and is the largest and most experienced private equity team in Vietnam. Almost all of the senior positions within Mekong Capital are held by Vietnamese, most of whom are also shareholders of Mekong Capital.
