European Financing Partners SA
European Financing Partners S.A. (EFP) is a co-financing mechanism among the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Development Finance Institutions (EDFIs) to finance private sector investments in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific (ACP). EFP is a risk-sharing facility providing up to 75% of the combined financing to projects in ACP proposed by any one of the EDFI Members which are shareholders of EFP.SIFEM was already a committing party of EFP II and EFP III and continues to support this successful project financing scheme through financial means and its active role on the investment committee.
The EFP initiative was created in 2003 with the double aim of promoting sustainable development of the private sector in ACP States and strengthening co-operation between eligible EDFIs and the EIB. EFP is a Luxembourg-based investment company and as of 2010 approved financing to 29 private sector enterprises in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific at a total amount of EUR 392.0 million. EFP has financed projects in 15 ACP countries in the following sectors: industry, power, financial intermediaries, communication, agribusiness, container terminal, air transport and health.
