Latin America

Latin America

SIFEM focuses its investments on Central America and Peru, and has limited engagement in Colombia. SIFEM's focus in Latin America is in the finance sector, with investments ranging from microfinance to small and medium enterprise  (SME) private equity funds.

Asia

Asia

India and China account for almost half of SIFEM's global exposure, with the largest share in China through the Sino Swiss Partnership Fund, followed by SwissTec in India. SIFEM's focus is on developing the Vietnam and India portfolio by working with funds that provide equity and debt-based finance to growing companies with limited access to capital and professional know-how.

North Africa

North Africa

SIFEM's North Africa activities focus on the Maghreb region of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia. The North Africa strategy is to work with growing medium-sized enterprises that seek to become regional players. The current markets have produced many well-run enterprises which demonstrate a natural progression toward trading with neighboring countries.

Sub-Saharan Africa

Eastern Europe & the CIS

Eastern Europe & the CIS

SIFEM focuses its activities in the small and medium enterprise (SME) segment, where it has a comparative advantage and public finance can show additionality and subsidiarity. Since the banking sector enjoys a high level of liquidity, SIFEM extends SME credit lines to financial intermediaries on a selective basis.

Global Funds

SIFEM's global exposure is mainly in various structured microfinance instruments, and areas of development cooperation with other members of the development finance community.
